Airgarden details

What you need at home

An outdoor spot with 4+ hours of direct sunlight. Power and water access (the Airgarden needs constant power and to be refilled weekly), and 1m2 of level space.

What you can grow

There are 150 different herbs, fruits, vegetables and flowers that you can grow in the Airgarden, with the ability to grow 30 at once. View all plants here.

Dimensions and specifications

The Airgarden is 1.6m tall and 60cm wide at the base. It weighs 20kg when empty, and 75kg when filled. It is made from all Australian UV stabilised, food-grade plastic.

What’s included in the box

Everything you need to grow: Airgarden unit, pump, 30 grow cups, automated waterproof timer, 45 grow plugs, 5 assorted seed packets, pH testing kit, nutrients, seedling growing tray.

What you need to do each week

Once a week you will need to: add water to the reservoir, add nutrients, test and adjust pH. Then prune and harvest as required. That's it! Once a season you will need to do a simple seasonal clean.

What's inside the unit

Inside the Airgarden, roots are suspended in the air and sprayed with a mist containing water and nutrients, allowing plants to thrive with higher access to oxygen and a controlled growing environment.

Litmus Tests

So the Litmus test for me (pun intended) was leaving my brand new Airgarden for a week whilst on holiday. I am very pleased to report that not only did it survive a week of some very hot weather, but it actually flourished!

Interestingly, my herbs did start to wilt by Day 2 of my return and I realised pretty quickly that a) the timer plug wasn't fully engaged after I had moved it - is there a more stream-line timer as the current one is quite bulky especially for an outdoor PowerPoint - and b) my reservoir needed refilling (missed the replenish every 7 days video).

I did have my Airgarden cover on but am finding it's squashing the herbs as they grow. I really think the Airgarden could benefit from a frame attached to the tower (going to try and fashion something myself) that could also potentially be used for any climbing vegetables - Airgarden any plans???

One other observation (unless I have installed incorrectly) it would be good if every alternate level (on the tower) could be staggered, to allow more room for upward growth.

All in all, I couldn't be happier with the progress of my herbs. I have struggled to grow anything as it's super hot and if I forget to water one day... Airgarden has made growing herbs a breeze! My next purchase will be an Airgarden for my veggies!

Thank you Airgarden.

I love my Airgarden so much I just purchased two more!! We call it our ‘tomato yeti’ as the tomatoes have just gone insane. We have had full crops of delicious cucumbers, beans, capsicums herbs, salad leaves etc, and it just keeps going! Honestly, the best investment ever.

Really good unit. Here in the ACT we're getting snow peas, beans, spinach and zucchini after starting seeds on July 12.

Very happy with the Airgarden, the growth rate is unbelievable. Growth and harvesting of lettuce, rocket etc is so quick. I planted a couple of different varieties of tomatoes and they have gone berserk. Can’t wait to taste them. Tip: make sure you buy the dolly or go to hardware store to get one. Important piece of equipment!!!!
