Riding the Wave of Change: Airgarden's Contribution to Surfers for Climate

At Airgarden, our journey has always been intertwined with a profound love for nature and a commitment to sustainability. As advocates for a greener, more sustainable future, we recognise the urgent need to protect our planet and address climate change. That's why, in 2023, we made a significant decision to donate 1% of our revenue to Surfers for Climate, an organisation that aligns perfectly with our values of people, planet, and purpose.

Surfers for Climate is on a mission to turn the tide on climate change, and their story began with a transformative experience. Co-founders Johnny Abegg and Belinda Baggs attended a climate summit on Heron Island, within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. There, they delved into the realities of climate science, the impacts of climate change, and the viable solutions available in Australia. Most importantly, they realised the critical role of our oceans in combating the climate crisis.

Inspired by their findings and the collective power of surfers in campaigns like Fight for the Bight, Surfers for Climate was born. Thousands of surfers across Australia have joined this movement, paddling together on the party wave of climate action.

At Airgarden, we believe in supporting initiatives that raise awareness and drive real change. Surfers for Climate doesn't stop at awareness; they actively engage and empower surfers to take action. They work tirelessly to halt new coastal and offshore fossil fuel developments, implement climate solutions, and collaborate with MPs representing surfing communities to drive climate action.

Our CEO and co-founder, Prue Bauer, is a dedicated advocate for sustainability and an ocean lover and avid surfer. She understands the deep connection between the surf community and our oceans, making our support for Surfers for Climate more meaningful.
